European Conference

Drug users in custody: Learning the lessons

5-6 October 2012
ASAG, Università Cattolica, Via Nirone 15, Milan, Italy

COMPASS is pleased to announce the European conference of the ACCESS project, in cooperation with the Università Cattolica - Alta Scuola di Psicologia Agostino Gemelli/ASAG - in Milan, Italy.

The ACCESS project is a European initiative aimed at bringing together organisations from different EU member states to contribute to the knowledge base and practice of harm reduction services, with the aim of improving access to treatment for drug users within the criminal justice system in European countries.

The event will expose participants to EU and international policy development, research and examples of service establishment and delivery at local, national and international level on harm reduction and treatment in prison and in the criminal justice system.

This event takes place at a time of unprecedented competition for resources across the health and social sector. Much research has been collected on the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of specific treatment and harm reduction interventions for drug users in custody. Dissemination of this knowledge remains a priority.
